Bylaws Update

On January 1, 2022 new laws (RCW 24.03A) went into effect for all Washington NonProfit Corporations, and to which we are subject. As a side note, we also fall under the Washington State Homeowner’s Association laws (RCW 64.38), however those did not change in the recent past.

As a result, your Board took on the task of updating the Clearidge Homeowner’s Bylaws, so that we would be in better alignment with the updated laws where they applied to us.  Some parts of the State’s document applied ONLY to charitable corporations, and thus not to us.

The largest change was in Article II, Section 7, which was added.  This section simply formalized the process we have had in place for over 5 years, regarding the counting of votes, quorums and announcement of results.  Other minor changes included the percentage of members needed for a quorum and voting, notices sent by mail assumed delivered by the 5th day after the postmark, and limits on years of service on the Board as examples.
